About

Jack is a social science researcher with the Nunavut Research Institute based in Iqaluit.

He has worked in Dene and Inuit communities in the Northwest Territories, and has held several senior policy advisor positions with the Government of Nunavut, including Suicide Prevention and Intervention Advisor, Director of Evaluation and Statistics, and Director of Research for the Nunavut Implementation Commission. He has also been a social research consultant on a variety of projects in Canada, Greenland and Guyana.

Jack helped develop a private member’s bill on suicide prevention (Bill C-593: An Act respecting a National Strategy for Suicide Prevention), introduced in the last session of Parliament.

He is completing a Ph.D. dissertation at Ilisimatusarfik (The University of Greenland) examining social determinants of suicide rates among Inuit Youth.

Jack has been involved with a number of professional organizations, and is currently a member of the Apex District Education Authority and sits on various community boards.
